Black History Month authors: Yannick Marshall

Yannick Marshall’s Empress is poetry that venerates various Black female heroines throughout history imagined and realized in women today. Marshall’s style, lyricism, and self-aware historical vernacular are truly wonderful. Read more about Empress here.

Marshall’s first book published with Kellom Books, Old Friend, We Made This for You, was a shared publication with Yemi Aganga. The work argues for Pan-African unity from both African and African-diasporic perspectives. Find out more about what George Elliot Clarke called ‘”The Greatest’ debut of our era” here.
